Lorsque les travailleurs se sont organis\u00e9s pour protester contre cette d\u00e9gradation de leurs conditions de travail, elle a licenci\u00e9 15 responsables syndicaux en novembre 2013 et 179 adh\u00e9rents le mois suivant.<\/p><p>La gr\u00e8ve qu&#039;avaient entam\u00e9e en juillet 2013 les membres du FTZGSEU a entra\u00een\u00e9 l&#039;intervention du Commissaire au travail du Sri Lanka qui pr\u00e9sida les n\u00e9gociations qui ont abouti \u00e0 un m\u00e9morandum d&#039;accord favorable aux revendications des mineurs. La direction avait sign\u00e9 cet accord mettant fin \u00e0 la gr\u00e8ve, ce qui ne l&#039;a pas emp\u00each\u00e9e de proc\u00e9der aux licenciements en masse.<\/p><p>Les travailleurs ont non seulement \u00e9t\u00e9 licenci\u00e9s pour s&#039;\u00eatre syndiqu\u00e9s, mais leurs noms ont aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 mis sur liste noire, ce qui les privait de tout moyen de subsistance, les autres employeurs refusant de les embaucher. Ce n&#039;est qu&#039;apr\u00e8s avoir sign\u00e9, sous la pression de la direction, un document ill\u00e9gal par lequel ils promettaient de ne plus se livrer \u00e0 aucune activit\u00e9 syndicale qu&#039;ils ont pu retrouver leur emploi.<\/p><p>Clean Clothes Campaign et IndustriALL Global Union ont toutes deux appel\u00e9 Bata \u00e0 se conformer \u00e0 son code de bonne conduite. Presque tous nos adh\u00e9rents ont \u00e9t\u00e9 licenci\u00e9s. Bata \u00e9tait son principal acheteur au moment o\u00f9 ces violations ont \u00e9t\u00e9 commises, et Bata est responsable de sa cha\u00eene d&#039;approvisionnement.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Nous exigeons la r\u00e9int\u00e9gration sans condition ainsi que le versement des arri\u00e9r\u00e9s de salaire, y compris les augmentations dues, ce qui repr\u00e9sente au total 40.000 $US.<\/p><p>Le cas des dirigeants syndicaux licenci\u00e9s a \u00e9t\u00e9 port\u00e9 devant la justice du travail tandis que les 172 cas restants sont trait\u00e9s par une cour industrielle.<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Palla &amp; Company est un fabricant de chaussures en cuir install\u00e9 \u00e0 Katunayake et exporte vers le march\u00e9 mondial, dont une grande partie de sa production en Italie. En d\u00e9cembre 2011, l&#039;entreprise a int\u00e9gr\u00e9 le groupe indien Ceylon Leather Products Plc, dont la soci\u00e9t\u00e9-m\u00e8re est Environmental Resources Investment Plc (ERI).
